With great joy, the team finally opened for 2015 on February 19. Team Leader Joyce Borghard expressed joyful appreciation to the many people who were responsible for all that was done:
To the trustees for overseeing the contractors who carried out the mold remediation, the partial removal of ceiling tiles and wallboard; the removal of carpeting in the Youth Room which was replaced with tile; the fixing of leaks and the cleaning of all ducts.
To Antonio Maltez for a superb job of putting up wall board, painting walls, installing new molding and painting it, stripping the hall floor and waxing it and the Youth Room, replacing tile in one of the bathrooms.
To members of the congregation who moved boxes, and helped push, pull and move many of the shelves.
To the Thrift Shop Team for clearing shelves and disassembling them, dismantling displays, moving racks, and emptying rooms. Then cleaning floors, reinstalling the shelves and washing them, rearranging the book room, and basically putting the whole shop back together, rehanging pictures, plus many hours of sorting.
“Customers definitely noticed and were delighted with our new look,” Joyce said. “After being open for two weeks we had to close on March 5 due to snow, big surprise.”
With the arrival of daylight savings time, warmer temperatures to melt the snow, and other familiar harbingers of spring, the team enthusiastically cleared out the winter inventory by inviting shoppers to fill shopping bags with clothes and shoes for $3/bag. Winter coats were marked down to $4.
The winter sales will end on March 21 and then the switch to Spring/Summer clothing will occur. Happy shopping!
