Camp Discovery is happening at our church from Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7, from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. The camp is free for children entering K–5 grade in September. Register online at http://bit.ly/NorthShoreUMC.
Campers will learn about David and Goliath; the wise judge Deborah; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego being saved from a blazing hot fire; Jesus restoring sight to the blind man Bartimaeus; and God sending Ananias to dramatically change Saul’s life. As these stories are applied to everyday life, the children will learn how God gives courage, wisdom, refuge, faith, and love to help us handle situations with our families and friends, or wherever we are.
Camp Discovery’s daily format includes opening and closing programs with songs; a Bible Story and a scripture verse to learn; science experiments, crafts, games, and snacks; and a mission project.
The staff for Camp Discovery includes most of the successful team that has worked with VBS Director Judy Meserve for the past three years. “We’re always looking for new people to join the team,” Judy said. “You are invited!”
This is a great opportunity to join a fun-loving, experienced, and very supportive team. No one works alone. Together the whole team is accountable for what needs to happen each day. Laughter is guaranteed. Find a role that matches your interests; learn new skills; help teach the Bible Stories; organize the games; manage the power point for the opening and closing.
Opportunities are available for adults and college students, also middle and high school students. Please contact Judy Meserve or Diane Burkhardt or leave a message at 631-929-6075.
